In this design, each letter of the word “Çocuk (child)” was shaped as a playful, smart, innocent, hardworking, and dynamic child, symbolizing joy, hope, and happiness while reinforcing family bonds. The TRT Çocuk logo, with its smiling face and dynamic structure, represents a world of children hand in hand, illuminating the playful, imaginative world of a child embarking on a new adventure.

Project Idea and Summary

A brand-new corporate identity design was needed for the international conference of TRT Çocuk, the children’s channel of Turkey’s official state television. I was tasked with leading a multidisciplinary effort to create this.

The scope included Corporate Identity Designs, Posters and Illustrations, Packshot Animation, Conference Hotel Interior Branding Designs, Speakers’ Presentation Designs, Outdoor Print Designs, Live Broadcast Banners and Videos, as well as Stage Screens Conference Design and Videos.

All of these elements needed to communicate a unified visual language. Completing everything within just two months was a significant challenge. Below is a summary of this challenge.

Solution : M.Ben

Problem and Solution

Problem: Creating a new identity that symbolizes and represents the conference and the children’s channel, while considering that the attendees are adults and the identity should also reflect new media.

Solution: To capture the attention of both older and younger generations, we developed the idea of the “Topaç” (spinning top). Additionally, I enriched the logo, posters, animations, and illustrations with new media icons. Instead of the bright and contrasting colors used by the TV channel, I chose softer and more muted tones for the logo, considering the target audience was adults and educators. The design was also crafted to align with current trends.

Application: M.Ben

Application and Technology

The circular lines forming the foundation of the corporate identity symbolize both the colors and movement of the spinning top. These lines were applied according to the necessary guidelines across various mediums, including live broadcast animations, outdoor installations, stage screen designs, hotel interior branding, and printed materials. For example, the program schedule was composed of circular lines from the logo and presented in a vertical design on the flyer, while it appeared horizontally on the stage backdrop. This visual language was successfully implemented across all elements of the project.

Results

As a result, within just two months, we successfully completed this project through an intense period of meetings with the contracting company. TRT Çocuk was extremely satisfied with the entire process, particularly with my design, management, and implementation style, as well as my ability to provide quick solutions to problems. They even offered me a job. However, I had already moved to London after this project.

Experiencing such challenging production processes greatly benefits a designer. It taught me the importance of prioritizing tasks, evaluating design processes accordingly, and the value of working as a team to successfully carry out a project.
